Slit House

Anna Nakamura and Taiyo Jinno of Eastern Design Office designed this house (for a woman in her 80s!) located in Koka, Shiga (Japan).

The house is formed by the slits – which act as windows – forming a long, narrow building conforming to the site. The slits bring unique light into the spaces throughout the day – allowing for different lighting conditions.

Such a beautiful, simplistic ’solid and void’ design utilizing one of our best renewable resources – the sun.
